What's happening? A creator competition called #TheSearch is giving away a $1 million prize to one lucky (and talented) creator. After raising a $20 million seed earlier this year, the the decentralized autonomous organization CreatorDAO is attempting build a brand-new type of digital network. be a part of it by participating in their $1 million dollar competition called #TheSearch.

What's #TheSearch? Hosted by Andrew East, #TheSearch is going to be set up as a series, in which the main objective is to find the next best creator. Think American Idol but for content creators. Check out the 90 second series announcement... ๐Ÿ‘‡

What are the perks of joining? Creators, including Jake Paul and Joma Tech, have pledged to mentor, fund, and collaborate with the winner of #TheSearch. On the CreatorDAO site, some other advantages to participating in this competition include:

  • Spend 30 minutes with Gary Tan - YouTuber and early investor in Coinbase and Instacart

  • Chat with Austin Evans - tech YouTuber and first gamer in space

  • Get mentoring from Jon Youshaei - YouTube's Head of Creator Marketing

  • Get brand deal advice from Meghana Dhar - Snapchat's Global Head of Brand Marketing

How you can join. And now to the good part - how you can join #TheSearch:

  1. Shoot a 1 minute video showcasing your creativity or demonstrating a talent

  2. Upload that video as a TikTok or YouTube Short, tag @creatordao, and include the hashtags #TheSearch and #CreatorDAO

  3. Create a profile on the CreatorDAO site and link your video

  4. Share your video with your audience and ask them to vote for you

Once you've completed Steps 1 - 3, you will be put in a group with other recent candidates. The 2 creators who received the greatest support from your group will advance to the next round, so you'll want to make sure you have a way to promote your submission video!

Should you join the competition? Well, that's completely up to you. But let's look at the best and worst case scenarios. Best case - you win $1 million. Worst case - you create a piece of content that might grow your audience. Seems like a win-win to me.

What does this mean for creators? Short form video content is necessary in 2022, heading into 2023. YouTube Shorts are seeing a huge push in viewership on the platform, to try and bridge the gap in time spent on platform. Make sure to take advantage of this.
