After 100+ Hours Of "How To Grow On YouTube" Content, Here's The Best Advice ๐Ÿ“

We've consumed hours and hours of podcasts, blog posts, YouTube videos, Tweets, and TikToks to determine the BEST advice for new YouTubers. While there's a lot of B.S. out there, we found some very useful suggestions that you can start implementing today.

If you're not a YouTube creator, don't worry - we'll be doing this for other platforms. Now, let's dive right in! (TL;DR at the end because this is a 3-5 min read)

Upload at the right time. If you have no audience, the ideal times to post videos on YouTube are 11am EST and 3pm EST. Those times are when the most users are concurrently on the platform. If you already have subscribers, check your YouTube Studio analytics under the "Audience" tab for "When your viewers are on YouTube." This will tell you exactly when to publish your videos... โคต๏ธ

If you're a Shorts-focused channel, it's okay to post multiple times per day, but make sure NOT to post 2 Shorts within 1 hour of each other. This will hurt your potential reach for the first Short. AND this brings us to the next URGENT advice for creators on YouTube.

Focus on Shorts right now. This is your best chance of going viral. BUT don't go dropping all long form videos yet. If you already post long form videos, keep doing this as you normally do. What you'll want to do is post Shorts on the days that you don't upload a longer video. Why? Because YouTube is pushing Shorts like crazy!

So, how should you incorporate Shorts into your content strategy? For every long form video you create, make 3 Shorts about that same topic. Release the Shorts first to start getting exposure to new potential viewers. Then release the long form video on that same topic. YouTube wants to push long form content to Shorts viewers and will only do so if the Shorts viewers are interested in the topic.

Upload Shorts multiple times per day. Most YouTube Shorts creators are uploading 2 to 8 times per day. The best strategy seems to be to upload as many videos as you can per day until you get a "1 of 10" video. For anyone who isn't sure what a "1 of 10" video is, it's the top performing video of the last 10 videos that you uploaded and it can be found in your Channel Dashboard... โคต๏ธ

The strategy that seems to work is upload a video, wait an hour, upload a video, and repeat. It's obviously very difficult and time-consuming to do this, so do what you can. BUT if you have the time and ability, this is the fastest way to grow on YouTube right now.

Optimize titles and thumbnails. The title and thumbnail serve one purpose - to get people to click on your video. How do you do this? By invoking curiosity. The best way to do this is to show an example so here you go... โคต๏ธ

Let's break it down starting with the title - "How Much Money MrBeast Makes | The Full Story." This invokes curiosity for 2 reasons.

  1. We all want to know how much a YouTuber with 100M+ subscribers makes considering he's able to give away millions of dollars in his videos.

  2. "The Full Story" implies that there's a secret that we all might not know about MrBeast in this video.

Moving on to the thumbnail. As you can see the video is made by Graham Stephan, but Graham is nowhere in the thumbnail. Why? Because the viewer is not interested in Graham for this video. They are interested in MrBeast, which is why he is the main focus of the thumbnail. Adding the text "broke" creates curiosity of the viewer who might be thinking:

I know MrBeast isn't broke... but then again, could he be? I mean the title says 'The Full Story,' so maybe there's more to MrBeast than I thought. Let me click just to see what's going on.

Create 2 types of content. The 2 types of content you need to be making are recommended videos and search friendly videos. Recommended videos are the videos you're already making that will be pushed to your current subscribers. These would be vlogs, life update videos, etc.

Search-friendly videos (especially Shorts right now) will get you A LOT of growth. What are they? Videos based on searchable keywords. For example, if you are a health and fitness creator, a search-friendly video would be "6 Exercises to Guarantee a 6 Pack in 30 Days" or "The Best Personal Trainer Mobile Apps in 2022." These are videos based on keywords that people are already searching daily. Use the long form/Shorts strategy we discussed above and you will see AMAZING results in the next 30 days.

TL;DR. We've consumed a lot of content to determine the best advice for new YouTubers. If you have no audience, the ideal times to post videos on YouTube are 11am EST and 3pm EST. Creating multiple Shorts per day is the best way to grow right now. You should still make long form videos if you already do. The title and thumbnail of your videos serve one purpose - to get people to click on your video by invoking curiousity. Creating search-friendly content is another key way to boost growth.
