The Friday Four 🖐

One Tweet

We love high-RPM YouTube niches and this might be the highest we've ever seen - $36.95. That means if you have a video that gets 100,000 views, you take home $3,695 after YouTube takes it's cut of ad revenue. That is CRAZY!

The niche is "car rental business tutorials." Definitely niche. Probably boring to most creators. But let it be known that niching down is where the Adsense revenue is. There's a reason prank YouTube videos have less than $2 RPMs.

One YouTube Video

Inspiration is unbelievably important for creators.

In this video, Thomas Frank discusses why creators are feeling less and less inspired. He uses an awesome Steve Jobs quote to kick off the video:

Creativity is just connecting things. Creativity is just connecting things. When you ask creative people how they did something, they feel a little guilty because they didn't really do it, they just saw something. It seemed obvious to them after a while. That’s because they were able to connect experiences they’ve had and synthesize new things. And the reason they were able to do that was that they’ve had more experiences or they have thought more about their experiences than other people. Unfortunately, that’s too rare a commodity. A lot of people in our industry haven’t had very diverse experiences. So they don’t have enough dots to connect, and they end up with very linear solutions without a broad perspective on the problem. The broader one’s understanding of the human experience, the better design we will have.

Thomas goes on to explain that to become more creative, we need to have more “dots” (or "things," as Jobs said) to connect. “Dots” are experiences. To have more, and thus become more creative, you need to explore and create new experiences. This videos breaks down exactly how to do this.

One TikTok

How about a viral TikTok video breaking down a viral TikTok video. That's meta.

One Podcast

We Lost

This was an awesome discussion about Colin and Samir's experience at The Streamy Awards and their reaction to not winning an award.

Other valuable insights from the episode are Colin and Samir's discussion on how long it took them to become full-time creators and how much to charge a brand to run their social accounts.

Listen to it here.

Happy creating this weekend! 🎉
