From TikToker to Music Executive π΅
TikToker Ari Elkins is partnering with a major music group to start his own label.
Hey there! Is it just me or is public interview content showing up less and less on your FYP? Are more longer story-telling videos showing up for you? Maybe it's just my algo.
Either way, the content I'm seeing today seems to have more substance than the OG dancing videos that all boomers refer to when they mention TikTok.
Anyway, let's get into this edition of The Viral Post.
This TikToker is Quickly Becoming the Next Big Music Executive π΅
What's happening? TikTok star Ari Elkins is taking his music curation skills to new heights with the launch of Blue Suede Records, a label he's starting up with Avex USA. The label's mission is to discover, develop and promote undiscovered talent, and Ari will be leading the charge in finding new artists. Avex USA, the American branch of Japan-based Avex Group, will handle the behind-the-scenes work of the label.
Ari, who has 1.9 million followers on TikTok, is known for his themed music videos, where he recommends songs to his followers. He's already expanded his reach beyond TikTok with his Spotify podcast called Sountrack Your Day and his partnership with Simon Cowell on Stem Drop.
"I'm so excited to take my love for finding new artists and sharing them with the world to the next level with Avex and Blue Suede Records," said Ari. "We're creating a unique opportunity for emerging artists to get the best of both worlds - traditional label services and contemporary marketing power."
The label takes its name from a couch that often appears in Ari's TikTok videos. Blue Suede Records is all set to bring fresh talent to the spotlight and give them a platform to shine.
Why this matters. Huge opportunities are opening up in the creator economy every day. Ari Elkins went from promoting songs via TikTok to a joint venture music label with a mega-million dollar music group.
Anything is possible when you can build an audience around a topic that truly interests you! We're excited to see how this influences the music industry. Maybe all future music execs will have their start as a content creator, like Ari.
