Hey there! A channel jumped from 1,000 to 8,000+ subscribers and 3.2 million views in 2 weeks. You can too!

Let's talk about it! 👇

The Algorithm Is NOT Against You 👍

Liam Stevens is a snowboarding-related educational YouTuber. 2 weeks ago, he had 1,000 subscribers. That all changed when he posted this video... 👇

This video now has 3.2 million views and is getting recommended to people who aren't even interested in the main topic, as seen by the top comment - "No clue why YouTube recommended this video for me but I’m super glad I watched it. Great breakdown of airbags and the skills around them! Personally I would LOVE to snowboard onto an airbag, just don’t have the confidence to f*** it on the snow after breaking my tailbone twice and my wrist once 😂."

So who still thinks the algorithm is against them? This video catapulted Liam's channel to over 8K subscribers and has set him up for success moving forward. He knows what type of content his audience wants to see and can double down on it.

BUT how did the algorithm pick this up? Jay Alto seems to think the thumbnail... 👇

AND he's probably right. The thumbnail is amazing - it evokes curiosity. Can someone even snowboard on those things? Wow that's a beautiful background. Where is he?

Liam paired the thumbnail perfectly with the title - I Travelled 10,000 Miles to Ride Fake Snow - evoking more curiosity. Why would someone travel so far to snowboard on fake snow?

But seeing that kind of virality needs more than a good title and thumbnail. What really makes this video a success is:

  • The topic - a lot of people around the world can relate to snowboarding

  • The storytelling - Liam does an amazing job keeping the viewer watching with his storytelling

The Voice Behind TikTok's Text-To-Speech 🗣

Kat Callaghan is a radio host and the voice behind TikTok’s most popular text-to-speech option - “Jessie." For over a year, her radio listeners would send her TikTok's, pointing out the similarities between her voice and the one in the app.

It wasn’t until recently that Kat revealed: “Finally, I can tell you guys,” she said in a TikTok video, the first she’d ever posted. “It is me.” The video went viral almost immediately, amassing more than 45 million views since it went live.

In 2015, Kat decided to start her own voiceover business. Since launching the business, she has worked a number of voiceover gigs - educational content, YouTube videos, and commercials - but she says TikTok’s text-to-voice feature is the biggest job she’s had so far. “It’s certainly different than anything else I’ve ever done,” she told The Verge. “It’s been really, really cool working with TikTok.”
