What's Your YouTube @? π§
YouTube announced that handles (or @'s like on Instagram and TikTok) are coming to its platform. The battle for the title of "Short-Form Video Champion" continues as YouTube takes more steps to compete with Instagram Reels and TikTok.
Now, you might have questions about YouTube handles. Let's dive into those.
Q: What is a YouTube handle?
A: YouTube handle is a new way for people to find you (Ex. @funnyvideoguy). Unlike channel names, handles are unique to each creator and can't be duplicated.
Q: When can I claim my handle?
A: Over the next few weeks, YouTube will be slowly opening access for all creators to choose their @handle. If you donβt choose one by November 14th, don't worry - you'll get one automatically that you can change.
Q: Do I need to do anything to qualify for a handle?
A: Nope! Everyone gets one.
Q: Where do I go to choose a handle?
A: By November 14th, you should receive an email or YouTube Studio notification letting you know it's your turn to choose a handle. Once you get that, you can visit youtube.com/handle to choose your handle.

Video Editor For Mr. Beast Reveals How Much He Gets Paid π°
Business Insider released an interview with 24 year old video editor, David Stack, who works under the pseudonym Restricted Edits. Not only is he a video editor for big YouTubers - he's a video editor for the BIGGEST... Mr. Beast.
Since this article full of unbelievable value is hidden behind a paywall, I went ahead and paid for a subscription so you don't have to. Now, let's discuss what lies behind the paywall. Video editors - listen up.
1. Getting good at video editing takes an immense amount of practice
David started editing YouTube videos when he was 13 years old. That was 9 years ago. He started with something he was interested in at the time - "syncing up video-game clips to music." After a few years of playing around with editing, David became obsessed to the point where he was skipping school to stay home and edit videos. This obsession carried into college, forcing him to drop out in his 3rd year. Luckily, he was getting paid enough to thrive.
2. Great video editing is worth A LOT of money
David started the year charging $1,000 per video and is now charging anywhere from $1,500 to $3,000 per video. In the last 4 months, he made $54,429 from video editing. Oh, and he also got married during that time.... so we can probably assume that is a slow 120 days for him.
3. Working with your idols could be only one DM away
David wanted to work with Mr. Beast and sent a DM to his main video editor with his portfolio attached. He simply asked if there was anything he could help with. Within a couple weeks, he got a response asking if he could help with Mr. Beast's I Put 1,000,000 Christmas Lights on a House video.
4. How to improve at video editing
David says that "succeeding in editing is a matter of consistency." He says the best way he learned and continues to improve as a video editor is by watching videos from more experienced editors, like Logan Paul's editor Hayden Hillier-Smith and KSI's editor Mo Syed. He says that the more you watch the experts and play around with editing videos yourself, the better you will become over time.
P.S. Make sure to show David AKA Restricted Edits some love! β€οΈ
